Salvation Army Disaster Crew Respond To Buckhead Warehouse Fire

(Atlanta, October 7, 2010) In response to a request from Atlanta fire officials, The Salvation Army in Atlanta deployed its Emergency Disaster Team and Mobile Feeding Unit (Canteen) to an early morning fire at a Buckhead costume warehouse on Piedmont Road between I-85 and Lakeshore Drive.

The four-person crew arrived at the 2100 block of Piedmont Road shortly after 9:30 a.m. and began distributing food, water and snacks to first-responders battling the three alarm blaze at the Spirit Halloween Superstore.

As the road closures and clean-up work is expected to continue throughout the day, The Salvation Army Canteen will remain on-site to provide water, beverages, snacks and lunch service to more than 100 on-scene emergency personnel.
