Committed to Communityis not just the company slogan, it’s the core company value behind its distinctive employee volunteerism program. And, the catalyst for what has become a charitable partnership between AutoTrader.com employees and The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta Area Command.

One of the most recent projects being the  landscaping and beautification of The Salvation Army Doraville Corps Community Center on October 28th.

Two dozen employee volunteers rolled up their sleeves for five hours to landscape, clean the food pantry, build new shelving, stock canned goods, and paint classrooms and donated picnic tables (all valued at nearly $9,000).

“These particular employees are involved in a year-long Leadership Program,” says Jennifer Anderson, AutoTrader.com’s Community Relations Coordinator. “During that year, fifteen employees are selected to partner with an Executive Mentor to organize community relations projects.”

“It is a blessing that AutoTrader.com chose us to make a difference in the community,” says Major William Cundiff, The Salvation Army Doraville Corps Officer.

“Not once did you see an AutoTrader.com volunteer sitting down or resting during this project,” recalls Sarah Clem, The Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator. “Their passion and dedication to community service is inspiring.”

Major Cundiff explained that the new shelving will help streamline food distribution to the men and women who come to The Corps for emergency groceries. “Besides being a blessing on the eyes, the donated painting and landscaping offsets the Army’s financial burden of upkeep and maintenance on the building at a time when donor dollars are dwindling.”
