Childhood obesity continues to rise in Georgia and in response to this alarming fact, On Friday April 8th, The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center partnered with Sole Jumpers Inc. to help reverse this disturbing reality.
Sole Jumpers Inc. hosted a Double Dutch Challenge in an effort to motivate the community to begin enjoying a fun and healthy pastime like Double Dutch. “Our number one goal is to inspire our youth to a culture of outdoor play that will aid in reducing and preventing childhood obesity,” explains Sole Jumpers Inc. President and Coach, Tonya Conn.
The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center will run a six-week Sole Jumpers Double Dutch Jump Rope Program on Fridays, beginning April 15 – May 20 for boys and girls ages 6-17.
“We hoped that by bringing together parents and adults who enjoyed Double Dutch during their childhood, would encourage youth to sign up for our six-week Jump Rope course,” explains Ikenna Ubaka, Program Manager at The Center.
