Serving Those Who Served Us All

On Thursday, October 13th, more than 100 volunteers from The Home Depot Foundation and The Mission Continues worked side-by-side with the veterans at our Red Shield Services Shelter to repair and renovate the facility.

The Salvation Army Red Shield Services provides veterans with housing, job training and supportive services throughout the year.

The volunteers worked hard to provide additional outdoor areas for our veterans to fellowship and relax. They created a brighter atmosphere by:
• Landscaping the courtyard for the Veterans on the Move program
• Designing and planting several new flower beds and renovating existing beds
• Building several shade structures, tree planters and benches
• Renovating and organizing the clothing closet
• Sprucing up the veterans’ break room with a fresh coat of paint
• Brightening overall décor by completing several murals as well as repainting other rooms

ESPN College Game Day Analyst Lee Corso, Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit rolled back their sleeves and assisted the volunteers with building shade structures, tree planter and benches.

We cannot thank The Home Depot Foundation, The Mission Continues and the College Game Day team of Analyst enough for helping to serve our veterans who have served us all.
