Atlanta is expected to have record breaking heat this summer which poses a health risk to many, but The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta provided some relief last Thursday, June 20!
The Salvation Army distributed 1500 free electric fans and provided water to those in need across the Metro Atlanta Area. A cooling station was also set up at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center for those seeking temporary relief from rising temperatures.
“Our seniors and especially those that don’t have shelter are at extreme risk,” said Metro Area Commander Major Todd Hawks. He continued, “Everybody, young, old, poor, and homeless deserves to be comfortable during these long summer days.”
