The Salvation Army Provides Free Box Fans to Atlantans in Need

With summer fast-approaching and temperatures already climbing in the Atlanta area, The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta distributed free electric fans and provided cool beverages to those in need of heat relief on Friday, May 15.

“Our seniors and especially those that don’t have shelter are at extreme risk,” said Metro Area Commander Major Todd Hawks.  “The Salvation Army has long term experience in meeting the basic needs of the people in the community.”

1,500 box fans were distributed across the Atlanta area, and doors were opened for community members to get out of the heat and enjoy a cold glass of water.

“Everybody, young, old, poor, and homeless deserves to be comfortable during long summer days,” said Major Hawks.
